Adam Brendemuhl

Adam Brendemuhl joins Audubon Great Plains as the new Range Ecologist. Adam was born and raised just outside of Moorhead, MN, and grew up on a farm along the Buffalo River, where his father, uncles, and brother still farm. His love for the outdoors grew each year when he would take an annual family trip to Medora and Theodore Roosevelt National Park, a trip his mother's family has been going on for almost 60 years. Adam's general knowledge and love of birds comes from his mother teaching him the many different species that would frequent their feeders each season.

 

Adam received his associate degree in Moorhead, and later moved out to Bozeman, MT, where he spent 5 years working for a glamour camping company and furthering his education at Montana State University. In 2022, he received a Bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Management from North Dakota State University, and subsequently began a Master's degree in Range Science, focusing on prescribed fire and how the seasonal/yearly timing of fire alters mixed-grass plant communities. Between degrees, Adam spent a summer as a research technician to gain hands-on experience in various fields such as avian nesting, Western Meadowlark territory mapping, livestock handling, soil health, range health assessments, and many forms of plant research which has been one of my favorite topics since.
