As you surely know, Audubon Dakota is outstanding and impactful thanks to the support from our members, donors, and partners. What you may not know is how much work goes on behind the scenes in order to conserve critical bird habitat and provide engaging outreach opportunities for people across the Dakotas. For this reason, we invite you to join our dedicated network of volunteers!
Volunteers are asked to participate in various outreach and engagement opportunities through Audubon Dakota’s Urban Stewardship Program (USP), while focusing on the promotion and maintenance of the Urban Woods and Prairies Initiative (UWP) Nature Parks. These parks consist of over 1,000 acres of restored prairies, wetlands, and riparian woodlands across the cities of Fargo-Moorhead, Grand Forks, Bismarck, and Minot. The UWP Nature Parks provide volunteers a unique opportunity to take ownership of the restoration of these areas. For example, USP volunteers have helped plant pollinator gardens, remove invasive species, maintain bluebird and wood duck boxes, harvest native prairies seeds, and more!
If you are looking to make a positive impact through on the ground habitat conservation, education, and advocacy, sign up to be a USP volunteer. Just make sure to keep an eye on your inbox and on social media for updates from Audubon Dakota on upcoming Urban Stewardship Program Volunteer events.
Audubon Dakota hopes to cultivate enthusiasm among individuals interested in land stewardship and conservation with hands-on engagement and education opportunities. Help us:
- Promote and maintain UWP nature parks.
- Manage natural resources through hands-on habitat management projects.
- With educational outreach and birding events.
- Speak to the public about the importance of conservation.
- Most importantly – protect the places birds need today and tomorrow!
