Audubon Dakota Increases Prairie Management Toolbox Support in Stutsman County

In 2017, Audubon Dakota established the Prairie Management Toolbox Program which provides financial and technical support for grazing infrastructure for private landowners in North Dakota. Funding for the program was provided by the North Dakota Outdoor Heritage Fund (OHF), which has allowed Audubon Dakota to enhance over 15,000 acres of rangeland.

An increase of funding is available for landowners in Stutsman County. Landowners and producers in Stutsman County can benefit from additional funding available now for livestock fencing and water infrastructure. Those enrolled will receive support for materials and labor for perimeter fence, cross fence, pipelines, rural water connections, tanks, pumps, and wells. The producer’s commitment includes a 10-year non-conversion agreement, and a habitat management plan outlining best practices and includes bird, pollinator, and vegetation surveys.
