2-to-1 Challenge Grant Could Offer Expanded Summer Camp Programs

Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center wants to grow their summer camps.

Denton, NE (May 6, 2019) - The Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center was awarded a 2-to-1 challenge grant from the J.A. Woollam Foundation to help raise funding for important projects including new expanded summer camp programs.

If secured, these funds will launch a new program in partnership with Community Learning Centers and Habitat for Humanity, to educate children,  promote native plants to ensure better bird habitats. Programs like these are offered at little to no cost to families and schools, meaning that donations are needed to continue this important work.

In addition to funding programs, contributions will also go towards camp supplies, transportation, plants and more. The foundation will match up to $10,000 for donations submitted before June 30, 2019.

“We were fortunate to receive funding, but that was just a piece of the base cost,” said Spring Creek Director, Meghan Sittler. “It takes additional funds not just for this season but for years to come.” The additional funding, Sittler explains, “provides opportunities for students that otherwise wouldn’t have access to it.”
